    Potomac River.....crab traps!!!

Fished Saturday and Sunday on the Potomac. I have never seen so many crab traps. From Quantico south, the entire river was lined with crab traps. Wades Bay had a lot of salt in it. Went to Potomac Creek and there were crab traps all the way to the Carp Pen. We did well in Mattawomen, seemed to have the freshest water of all the places we fished. Has anyone noticed the salinity? Seems most everyone was concentrating there efforts on the popular grass spots on the upper sections of the river. Hope the salt doesn't get worse.

Well that's some good info. Haven't fished the Potomac that much and didn't realize the salt line would come up that far. May not be running as far S. saturday as I thought. Thanks for the heads-up.

I agree, the fish are probably still there, but it does seem to be increasing in salinity. The pad back in Potomac Creek seemed to be getting burnt a little as well. I remember how the salt hurt the Rappahanock and hope we don't have a problem on the Potomac. I caught fish Sunday at Brents Marsh(Arkendale) which is right across river. Md side was worse for us, but maybe we hid it at the wrong tide.
