    konawa was packed!

My son (7yr old) and I went out to Konawa on Saturday (3/1). Man that placed was PACKED!

We didn't get there until around 11:30am. I counted 32 trailers. Once we got launched and headed out, seemed like every point already had at least one boat on it.

Anyway, we stayed until approx 5pm and only netted one largemouth.

Caught it on a carolina-rig with a watermelon green fluke on the end. It was only bight I had all day.

My son, poor guy, starting to wonder why he tags along with his dad on these fishing trips. He takes along is nintendo DS to pass the time when they aren't biting.

Yea... my head swells up so big I can barely get out of the truck when he just says out of the blue, "dad, I sure like going on our fishing trips".

I just hope my location skills get better so he can spend more time fishing than playing the DS.

you could have taken him closer to home and had just as good a chance of catching fish i wouldnt drive to konawa if that was the last lake open it has nothing to offer, the hot water lakes in texas generate enough heat to heat the whole lake our two dont even heat the discharge up enough to do any good . but it would have been crowded any where this weekend

Gambler4, you do any good at Thunderbird?

I've hit that one several times (only twice this year) for those quick, after work tips.

no im around tulsa how far is okemah for you? but right now all the lakes are in the upper 40's and low 50's so why drive to konawa or sooner to fish a 15 foot strip of water with 50 of your closest friends

    Indeed.

Do you have any tips for Okemah?

Being a fairly new boat owner, I'm making my rounds in OK, fishing as many lakes as I can, trying to find a favorite.

Take him out to Murray when the weather and water warms up. You all will be catching smallies all day

With that whopper being caught, I have a feeling the weekends at Murray are going to be busy. Guess I'll have to take a couple days off during the week and get him out of school for a fishing trip... I mean *official family business*.

2 tournments out of the city ramp and the other 2 ramps had trailers on them too.We had 24 boats in our club fish sat. Dont feel bad Chad I got one bite all day too. Konowa is as overrated as the LA Lakers!! Oh 7+ lbs won our tourney.
