FINALLY!!! Changes For Randleman Start In March

I just read this morning that the commissioners of the lake sought (and got) permission from the state to set new fish keeping regulations for the lake. Starting in March of 2012 a person will only be allowed to have ONE (1) bass over 20".

Also of note, they are taking a pole of what fisherpersons want to catch, more bass, or larger bass, and future lake limits/slots, whatever, will be decided on the outcome of the pole. It's a part of a two (2) year study.

The biologists are amazed at how good the water quality is for gamefish. It seems that all the worry 8-10 years ago about the water treatment plant in HP and all of the farm run-off has been for naught. Now if they would just raise the speedlimit a little, I'd be happy.

I think the people going and keeping bass have already damaged it alot. The fishing is no where near as good as it was when it opened. Should be catch and release only on bass IMO

Tarheel, right on the money!!!! That's all that needs to be done. If in a tournament weigh the fish then release them back to the lake. No bass leave the lake at least for 5 years. If Your lucky enough to catch a BIG Bass take a picture and take measurements a mount, I think can be made from that.

I was at randleman Wed. and Fri. and they were doing surveys as boaters were leaving the ramp. How many were caught, how many over 14inch, biggest bass caught, under 14 inches.etc....

So to submit a survey you have to get over to the lake early, set in line, hope you are going to be let on the lake when it opens, pay $15.00. I have paid my $300.00 over the many days the lake has been open and will wait to see how those that manage the lake straighten out this mess. I myself sure like to catch bunches of Bass but in the mix would like to have 1 or 2 that measure over the minumum size limit. We'll see what happens, sounds like either close the lake to fishing for 5 years and start over, a slot limit put in place, or have a warden check live wells at exiting the lake and not letting a single Bass to be taken from the lake.

Steve, I think that since, from what I've heard, Greensboro has main interest in Randleman. It would be up to the fishermen to do the checking and controling until March. If individuals discovered fish being taken from the lake then they should explain what the results of taking fish from Randleman Lake would do for future of the lake. I called the state wildlife in Raleigh when I saw and talked to a guy who was taking fish to Oak Hollow and they told me there was no law to stop the transport of bass from 1 lake to another so that is that... till March huh?

All I can say is GUILFORD COUNTY, there is nothing they do that makes sense and and never will. I have never been on this lake and never will, it's the " lets see you can do that, wait a minute no you can't" that I can't stand. I'll bet they have tournaments that include the gas and nongas side, and I will never fish a tourny that someone can go to a part of the lake I can't. I will never put a piss bucket in my boat for no one. I know I have to live here but that don't mean I have to fish here. hehehe

That piss bucket has me perplexed. Why worry about piss, it's sterile. Hell, Bear Gryles drinks the stuff, fish swim in it, so I don't see why they are concerned. But on the plus side, they do have decent restrooms. Of course, it's a 15 minute walk there and back to the boat.
