    GPS stolen car finder.

Any recommendations on a 'stick-on' GPS locator. Do they work, best features, what brand.

I have a Harman Spark from ATT thru my wireless plan. Its does gps tracking, impact detection, 4g hotspot, and obd2 readings from the computer. It will also send notifications to my phone if the door opens, vehicle shakes or moves. It also works to send a single if your boat is hooked the vehicle and moves as well.

The LandAirSea ones are what I used: https://amzn.to/32RIa9M

If you can use the ODB2 port it's inside and always on as long as the car has a battery, or get an extension cable and hide it better.. Or you can use the stick on puck like I did with several weeks life per charge.. I had one on my daughters car when I was paying her tags/insurance and she was on a restricted license.. Also saved her ass once because a "friend" borrowed her car and never brought it back..

Big question is do you want the car back once its stolen? I know several people who have had their cars recovered and everyone single of them wish they would have never found it, their cars are usually destroyed one guys car was used as a toilet but usually they are not totaled, plus you get a dirty car fax that says stolen recovery which makes resale a pain. But if the car has sentimental value I get it, if not save your money and take the insurance check and get yourself a new car.

I got my NEW F250 back after it was stolen and refused to take it , insurance gave me a check for $64,000.00 , even paid the 3900.00 for tag . It was in two police chases and 1 small wreck , cop said that was the fastest truck he ever saw , but he advised me it was smoking like a freight train during last chase .

So I assume these use a cellular network for communications. They would not do me any good to place one on a UTV left at a hunting camp in an area with no cellular coverage would it?

We had a Spot Tracker on my dads car for a couple years. You buy it and it has a subscription. It sits idle until the car moves. Then it will alert you with text or e-mail. You can go on the APP and see the track of the vehicle and it's last known location on Google Earth. Great unit. I used to track him in Florida from Michigan. He never knew it was there. About the size of a deck of cards.

My Mustang has built in GPS, if it wasn't built in I wouldn't have it.

Woman I know had her volvo stolen out of her driveway. She recovered it and couldn't change the fob without replacing the doors or something to that effect. The thief used to come back and sit in her car after it was returned. They never caught him in the act but there were signs he had been there.

My son had a SUV stolen two years ago. It was reported stolen immediately. Thief never removed the license plates, used it in three armed robberies of convenience stores with cameras that had great pictures of the vehicle AND the license plate. Crime watchers showed the video on the 6 and 10 PM news asking for help. Son called the cops and told them the vehicle had been stolen— response. “ We will have to check and see if there is a report on it” Outstanding police work right there.

They find it in the hood in Omaha ( where most of them end up) several months later. Tires were only 2 weeks old when it was stolen, tires gone, someone had been living in it. He refused to take it back, his thought was if there were any drugs hidden in the vehicle and was ever stopped and a K9 alerted the officer it would be his azz. Insurance agreed to total it, and since he still had the receipt for the tires they added that on to the amount.
