    Heading Sensor ?

I have two 12" Echo map ultras ? 1 Livescope .. every time I power up units I get the message that the heading sensor needs calibrated. I have gone through the calibration process twice and both time it said it was a success. Why do I continue to get this message ?

Are you tallking about the SteadyCast heading sensor? LiveScope also has one but I wasn't aware of it sending out a message if it's not calibrated.
The calibration of SteadyCast is a two part procedure.

Yes, after you calibrate the compass, you also need to go through the Auto Heading Alignment.

Thanks for the replies. Your comments are appreciated but they are Greek to me. In a couple days when I get another chance to get on the water I will pull up this thread and see if I can figure out what you are telling me. I didn't realize it was a two part process. I'll try to update my experience next time I get out. Thanks folks.

I hope the owners manual has instructions regarding the Auto Heading Alignment. I don't remember seeing anything on the screen about this but I may be able to get to the bottom of it. Thanks.

Reading the manual may help. It's not that complicated using the menu calibration. If it's not calibrated, each time you turn on your unit that message will appear. If you don't have the message, the menu for it is under Settings->Communications->NMEA2000 Devices.

When you select Calibrate you will have on-screen directions. When you finish that, look on the same menu for Auto Heading Alignment. Select that and follow those directions. Then you are set.
