    thanks to local boat dealer

With all the horror stories of poor customer service from boat dealers and repair shops I felt the less I should do is let everyone know of this event. In thanks to Boaters Marine Center for the unselfish support in our sport!
What they have done has softened the relality of my up coming engine repair.
Keep in mind I own a 1993 Javelin with a Johnson motor, Minkota trolling motor none of which was purchased from Boaters Marine Center in Monroe NC.
A couple weeks ago i started noticing at full trim I'd lose 500 rpm and motor would bogg like power pack or electrical concern. Well I went over everything time and time again on the electrical side and never came up with more than corosion between the battery post and the universal post adapters on the battery. Cleaned them and made sure the battery would pass load test then recharged.
Things ran well for 2 weeks with 4 days in a row fishing getting ready to compete in the NC Regional qualifer tournament.
Its a 2 day tour and at the end of the 1st day I was in 2nd place only 2 lbs behind the leader.
With the cool morning air of the final days AM on blasted off I noticed the old Johnson Fast strike was running very strong . Only had to ran 4 miles to my 1st fishing spot where things were going well. Within 2 hrs I had a 12 lb limit and was moving to another spot which was only 2 miles away. As I trimed the old boat full and reached top speed of 60mph..lol.I felt her shutter and lose power like the times before. Throttled down to an idle but this time engine had a dead skip nO noise just dead miss. Thinking the power pack had failed I called a friend that runs a repair shop near the lake. We had talked over the concern earlier in the week thinking it sounded like an electrial concern & if needed he would bring me a pack to the landing(good to have great friends) I made the call to him. Then I contacted the tournament director Mike Edwards and advised him of the event. He said not to worry stay with my coangler and he would call me right back.I was close to the landing and idled the 1/2 mile where I trailered the boat and pulled plugs. I had found the gap was closed on #3 spark plug....not good. Recalled the friend told him thanks but dont waste the trip.
Meanwhile Mike Edwards the tour director had called John Lilly of Boaters Marine in Monroe,NC and request a courtesy boat. BOATERS MARINE of Monroe NC (Champion & Legend boats)is a local dealer that supports and always provides the check in boat for the NC Federation Tours. John told Mike he had planned on coming to the tour around 1:00 anyway and would be glad to tow his DEMO 190 Champion to loan me as a replacement to get me & my coangler back into the finishing hours of the tournament. Mike advised me that Boaters Marine located 30 miles away was bring me a boat to finish the tour !!
With this most generous offer both my Coangler and myself were able to up grade our daily weight. I was able to complete the tournament with 3rd place finish in the tournament.
Again my personal Thanks goes to the TBF Western region director Mike Edwards, Boaters Marine's John Lilly and support from my friends and other TBF fishermen

Good folks. Next time you're in, ask him about my wife picking out my 203 for me. He (Jon) just loves it..

Re: thanks to local boat dealer (203)

Alot of dealers cant figure it out. Good service means future and repeat customers as well as good word on the street. Fishermen like to talk, good or bad, their experience with service will come out sooner or later.

They are very good to deal with. I don't have a boat from them either but last fall during the NC Federation state tournament. John let me borrow a power pack to get my boat running so I could fish. I was practicing and it went out. I pulled it to Monroe and they switched it out. Very helpful. If I can ever save enough money that is who I probably will buy my next bass boat from.
