    E-TEC jet engine

I love how newspaper reporters get mixed up on the facts, like saying " A 747 Piper Cub crashed today". Well, here is one about an E-TEC jet from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch...

    SPECIAL TO THE POST-DISPATCH
    08/09/2008

Rick Bruder's Evinrude E-Tec 150 horsepower jet engine roared to life at the stern of the 19-foot aluminum Legend bass boat. Minutes later, Bruder's boat was skimming effortlessly across Gasconade River riffles so shallow they'd pose a problem even for a kayaker, while he expertly avoided barely submerged logs and boulders alike.

    Re: E-TEC jet engine (SEAHORSE)

I believe the "jet" they are referring to is an outboard jet pump that replaces the lower unit on an outboard. Many people run jets here in Missouri and Legend is one of the local favorites for aluminum jet rigs. FYI.

    Now that makes sense.

The caffeine must not have kicked in yet when I read the article and made the post early this morning.

I'm more familiar with engines that have their blades on the outside of the lower unit.

It should say jet outboard. I think I read somewhere that Missouri uses more than 70% of the jet units build by outboard jets in California.
