    RAker vs Tempest Plus

Given the opportunity to roll with one over the other (have an old OMC), which is the better choice?

    24 Raker I vs 24 TEmpest plus

Tough one, the Raker is tried and true, so is the Tempest. Not 100% sure, maybe someone smarter than me can chime in but I think the tempest provides better bow lift than the Raker in my experience.

Im running a worked 24 Tempest on my 19ft Hydra Sport dual console with 175 intruder. I haven't tried any other props. When I bought the boat, it had a cheap 25 Michigan Wheel on it.

Several guys on here have told me that the worked Tempest will do anything the Raker will do. I cant help but wanna try a raker and a renegade myself to see how they run.

I will tell you that I run a pretty decent load (2 guys 225 each, lots and lots of gear, 3 batteries, small cooler, 30 gal of fuel, and full livewell.) I have a 6 inch plate, and the boat will run 59-60. The setup seems a little finicky sometimes. Up and down on the pad at lower rpms, etc. Could be the boat, motor prop combo, or weight dist. Im not really sure.

I guess my point is that I've had about as many people tell me to run a raker or renegade as I have tell me to run a tempest. Id like to hear results if you get to run both because Im just not sold on the tempest quite yet.

I'd like to be able to try a tempest plus on my 03 stratos 18 XL with 175 johnson. I've ran several raker 24s & own 3 of them now , a razor 3 in 23 & 24 pitch & fixing to try a raker ho 24. So far the original rakers lift & run the best by far. Blowing out on break over on hole shot is the only issue with the original rakers. The razor 3 has a great holeshot, but for some reason on my rig they don't even compare to the original rakers in lift & speed & they're suppose to run pretty much identical to them. I sure wish they did after giving $400.00 for one.
