Protec makes a great product. Most any wax, polish type product with UV inhibitors will work. Don’t get caught up in the marketing “sealer/ceramic” words and catch phrases. Pick a product you like and use it as often as possible. I advise customers to use products easy to use like Protec or a liquid wax. The easier it is to use the more it will be used in most cases.

I'm certain the Protec is good stuff and I know people that love it. I have a black/red/silver 1996 Nitro 896 that had oxidation already when I bought the boat new in 1998, probably from sitting outside on a lot for 2 years. I've wetsanded numerous times and buffed. Some years back, I started using that Nufinish 2000 after a wetsanding.
It's the stuff in the orange bottle. I haven't had to buff since. It's cheap at Walmart. That's been the best solution for my old boat and it looks better than the day I bought it and seems to stay that way now.

Second what crank68 said. I always finish a customer’s boat with Protec to seal, and then I put a light coat of a good liquid carnuba wax for the extra shine. Easy maintenance after that with a quick detailer after you leave the water. Protec is awesome stuff though, absolutely love it.

Generally speaking, I agree. But, a true ceramic coat will last far longer than a sealant and a sealant longer than a wax. Sealants are polymer based and waxes are organic/occur naturally.

OP - if you really want to learn more about detailing products and help, I highly recommend checking out the forums at autogeekonline.net.
