2008 ETEC 200HO Down Again

Took delivery of my Ranger 198VX Evinrude 200HO (Serial #05217253 Model #W200 DLSC) in February. Powerhead blew last of March. Took about 3 weeks to get it back. Now its July and I just took it in again, motor is knocking. Burn nothing but XD100. I am frustrated and concerned about this motor. I spoke to a fellow competitor at the All American back in May and he was on his fifth powerhead! Also had a co-angler tell me he has been paired with three boaters that ran ETECS, two of three had to be towed back to the ramp. When it works this is a great motor, just hearing a lot of horror stories. Also heard there is an issue with BRP and what they are paying dealers for warranty work, hourly rate not being anywhere close to what it should be. I would send an email to BRP,but not sure who to send it to. I hope this is resolved

Just call the customer service dept. with your serial number, 847-689-7090.

If your powerhead failed just like the first, then the dealer tech did not determine the underlying cause and a different powerhead may do the same. The fuel system in the boat and the cooling of the engine are prime suspects in multiple engine problems and very often overlooked.

I don't tend to listen to (I know a guy who knows a guy that this happened to... ) I do listen to direct account of a issue and i'm sorry your having trouble with your OB...You will find lots of great information and people willing to help you here on this site and listen to SeaHorse.. he is one of the great people with great info.. Most of us here have had no issues with oue E-Tec's and the few that have had trouble have been taken care of..
