    1997 ProCraft 200DC $6,800???

Saw a 1997 Pro Craft 200DC with a Mariner 150 engine. Boat looks to be in excellent condition. I have a few concerns:

    1) Single as trailer - not sure yet if original but that doesn’t seem right for a 20 ft. boat.

    2) 150 hp seems like not enough hp. The boat weighs 1,700 pounds!

    3) Being a 1997, would have concerns about wood and the transom.

Any input about Pro Craft boats, thoughts on the deal, etc. appreciated.

Single trailer is fine but the 150 is small but adequate for most. Do the normal checks on the transom, floor & stringers before you buy and youll be fine. Back in those days the tournaments were limited to 150hp so thats why you see a lot of bigger boats with a 150 on them. I have a bud of a buddy that has the biggest ranger they made back then with a 150 on it

I have a 20 ft Triton on a single axle. Does just fine. Easier to maneuver around in the garage to get it angled right.

Thanks for replying it’s interesting...some day they wouldn’t buy a boat unless it had tandem and others are the opposite. There seem to be good reasons for both options.

My 201 Stratos had a single axle trailer, it was fine. Also had a 150 Evinrude, it wasn't fine.

Just bought a 2000 205 pro w/ a merc 150 efi about a month ago. Been out in it a good bit and its fine. You wont out run many folks to a hole in a tourney, but mine will do a lil over 50 w/ 2 folks and fully loaded. I really like how it handles and rides. My trailer is a tandem axle though. I would guess if the axle is a 3000lb or more it then it would be fone though.

Single axle would be good for me but I'm less than 5 miles to ramp I use most. Price seems reasonable depending on condition.

May not be the fastest but I think it would do a good job.

    good luck on your decision
