Getting rid of VRO for good

    1990 Johnson GT 200
    Model #: J200STLESE
    Serial #: G02566263

How would i get rid the VRO pump for good? Mine is bad and i would prefer just to mix the oil in with my gas.

Please read rule #1 regarding posting your complete model and serial number.

It is imposible to answer your question completely without that information.

If you provide that info there may be one or more options.

    Matt,
Did you get the manual already?! If so WOW that was quick!

I think championman answered a post earlier on how to remove it

Wait a minute Matt...are you sure the VRO is bad? According to most here, it can't go bad...it's got to be something else. I'm amazed they haven't already chimed in & scolded you and praised the VRO system.

You're doing the right thing disconnecting it.

If the fuel pump portion and the air motor portion of your current VRO are functional you can disconnect the warning module from the engine harness, disconnect the oil line and plug the barb on the motor end with a cap & tiestrap. Remove the oil tank including the oil line and low oil warning harness which must also be disconnected from the engine harness.
You will then have to pour oil in the gas in the tank before running the engine and mix your oil from now on.

You can purchase a fuel pump that will fit in the same location as the original VRO from your BRP dealer or online @ Evinrude.com.
It looks like the VRO minus the oil section and warning system and is a direct replacement but you will have to pour oil in the gas in the tank before running the engine and mix your oil from now on.

Third option is the replace your old VRO with a new BRP OMS pump kit.
It will provide more oil than your original VRO.
It has improved features plus greater resistance to alcohol blended fuels.
You can continue to enjoy the convenience of oil injection and no mixing of oil with the fuel with this option.
