There's only a month left of summer and I'm still waiting on BRP to send my mechanic my new ECM. Since the ECM was malfunctioning, two separate mechanics and 3 months wait time were wasted because it was impossible to figure out what was actually wrong with my boat. Multiple parts were replaced after the engine threw codes, but the problems persisted. Finally it was decided that the ECM was the problem, not the codes it was throwing. That was bad news, but I was just happy that they finally figured it out and I could get my boat on the water. Originally I was told that I could get an ECM for about $800, then I was told that I could get a remanufactured ECM for about $800, then I was finally told that there were no more remanufactured ECM's and a new one would be $1400. I reluctantly put the money aside and told my mechanic to go for it. After my mechanic talked with the BRP rep, I was informed that it would take between 4 and 6 days to get the new part back and installed. It has now been 3 weeks and BRP just keeps changing the d-mn date. IMO, the ECM should not be a part that an owner should have to worry about. If something is wrong with the ECM, the company that originally programmed it should stand by there product. At this point, I just want to get the boat in the water, make sure everything is running soundly, and then sell it so I don't have to deal with BRP again. This has been a pretty terrible way to get involved in the Bass Boating, that's for sure...
