    water pump install

Hi there! Just installed a water pump kit in 1983 Evinrude E70ELCT s/n 0259951. The local 'rude dealer sold me part # 438602, which fits a range of models. My concern is this - the original pump did not have a gasket under the impeller plate - shop manual said just use gasket seal goop. I installed the gasket and the pump seems to be working great. Very strong water stream from the "pee" vent on the power head (running on muffs) but - there is water coming from the lower unit as well. I know some discharge is normal. My question is where should I see water exiting the lower unit (again on muffs) and how much? Does it mater that there is a little "weeping" from the seam where the LU meets the exhaust housing? Local dealer said it was normal - any comments?

    great forum!

    thanks!

    Re: water pump install (gogregor)

Normal, you may even see some coming from a small hole on the side of the unit.
