runs good in driveway on the muffs except for a miss now and then.new plugs and fuel filter. take it to the lake and it won't idle long enough to get it off the trailer. when i did finally get off the trailer it would go about half throttle and thats it. you could floor it and nothing would happen stay at same speed. any ideas where to start looking. thanks for the help in advance.......

Has it been stored for a while?
Start with compression, then ignition, then the fuel system.
Had the same issue and it was my carbs. I had to rebuild the three carbs and the issue went away.....
it was stored all last year.....my guess would have been a fuel issue.....i'm gonna start with the carbs seeing how they may have gummed up while sitting.it sat last year cause i spent so much time on the bike.i got it ready to go for the season and then it never left the driveway.
You may want to check the recirc valves while you have the carbs off.
Put some good carb cleaner in the gas too. Like seafoam. I would make sure its getting timing advance also.

do you think i should start with the carbs or somewhere else?timing and ignition might require the pros huh?does the fact that it runs near flawless in the driveway but inclined at the ramp it won't even idle sound off any ideas where to look first?

noticed the tach has quit. what would cause that? how do you test your coils?

You may have a rectifier gone bad, crank the motor on the hose, put a digital multimeter on the battery and see if the volts slowly climb into the 13's if they fall the rectifier/regulator is bad.

would that cause some of the others issues i'm having?
