Hopefully the bite picks up for you. The rez seems to be a little off this year and the crazy hot/cold weather im sure has been affecting the fish. Probably not as much as those dam idiots with the 5000 gallons of herbicide spraying every single piece of grass and pads in that dang lake. They began spraying right in the beginning of the spawn and all thru the spawn this year, and are still spraying everythin in sight, and I truly believe this has had a huge negative effect on the quality of fish catches this year. The frog bit should be picking up as the weather stabilizes and turns HOT! Good Luck, I think iv made my last trip up there two weeks ago, prior to my military transfer to New Jersey next month.

Truer word were never spoken about the spraying. The timing and the indescriminate spraying of anything that is green should be a crime.
The weights are slightly down from last year but its still a very strong lake ranking below only pickwick/bay springs in the state and way stronger than any lake around central or southern MS.

About the Spraying...It has truly seem to have gotten out of control up there. I grew up fishing lakes in florida where spraying and the dropping of pellets are required to keep the hydrilla from taking over the entire lakes. It has benefits when used in regulated quantities and specific invasive grasses are present/targeted.
The spraying they have been doing on the resevoir seems to have absolutley no merit and no specific grass to target. Its basically if it is green then it will be sprayed and killed.
The spraying does not bother me too much other then the areas they are targeting and the fact they did this just as this years fry were taking to cover. Please if someone can explain why in the world spraying areas such as all of area 7, the ski canal, horse shoe, clearwater and a bunch of other back water sloughs, oxbows and creeks are being sprayed. These are not high traffic boat lanes or community swimming holes, these are areas that truly benefit the fish with good grass growth and lilly pad growth which provides an excellent habittat for bream, crappie, and bass fry to begin their life cycle, as well as providing habitat for bass and bream throughout the summer months with good canopies of shade under these pads.
I know the director (Myron) of media Bass is trying to relay these efforts/concerns to the parks and wildlife division and could use help in folks voicing their opinion of the out of control spraying that is takin place on the REZ.
The REZ is not a state lake. It's under the control of the Pearl River Valley Water Supply District.
I agree with you 100% Jay about the spraying. With the right lake management it could become a premier bass lake....

Yeah Bill, tell us a fish story or twoAnd we need details

Well here's the story....You know the saying..." The best laid plans of mice and men..."
My trip the the Rez got canceled. Instead of going fishing I spent the day with my wife shopping for a new clothes dryer ($900.00). So I thought I would go the next day....WRONG...I had to take my wife to a couple of doctors appointments in Hattiesburg. And the day after that I had a front wheel bearing go out on my truck. Spent the day fixing that.
So after being offshore for 7 weeks and home for only 1 week all I could get done was honey-dos...
Now I'm back offshore for 2 weeks working....

You didn't miss anything but the scenery.
The spraying seems to have relocated allot of the gators.
In one place it is clean enough to fish where it once was not. In other places they haven't sprayed at all where it once was clean and now not even a boat can travel.
I'm understanding that the Rez is filling in at an alarming rate. Especially right above 43.
I'm totally at a loss on where the fish are.![]()

I went yesterday till about noon. I had about 4 blowups on a frog, but couldn't connect on any of them. When I figured out I was turning lobster-ish, I came home.
I did have a little excitement, though: http://www.bbcboards.net/zerothread?id=687104
