Flushing question

I have a 2001 Evinrude 250. If I remove the pee hole and connect my hose there and flush the motor, is the water also circulating to the water pump. I'm concerned if I run the motor is the impeller getting a good flow of water so it doesn't get messed up? Thanks.

That is for flushing. You need to put muffs on it if you are going to run it.
