Low lean pop

Hey guys do you think you can help me? I have a 96 225 rude they will idle for a while then pop and die. I was thinking that maybe I need the other jet for the #2 carb I have heard about. What do you guys think? Motor runs great and starts right back up after it dies.

It sounds like the motor may be running lean at idle or have a cold cylinder head temp, this is provided that the compression and ignition are in good shape.

The replacement of the #2 jet is to help cool that piston at high RPM's.
