    motor mounts- argh!

Well, I've put it off as long as I can and it's time to replace the upper mounts on my 1993/ 175 Fastrike. Mod.#VJ175GLETR. Of course my shop manual does'nt show anything about this, I do know I need to pull my powerhead. I've got a pretty decent wrench rating but this could be kind of a challenge. I'm going to take pictures and mark wires, hoses, etc. If anybody knows any tricks or things to look out for, I would appreciate any insight. As of right now, I'm having trouble just finding a part #.
    Thank You

You must have a Clymers. You'll need to order 434853 (mounts), 344277(2) bolts and that is it. Unless you're going to do the lowers and then you will need 434629 (2).
To pull the head you will need to remove the two 3/4" head bolts in the front of the motor where the PH meets the mid section (these are the upper mount bolts), pull the rest of the power head to adapter bolts and lift way. Once you have the head free look a the bottom of the block in the front. In between the two upper mounts there is a wedge that holds the mounts into the block remove the bolt that holds it in then remove the mounts. Use a new adapter gasket when re-installing.

Thanks for the help ChampioNman. You sure did make it sound easy. Done this a time or two have ya' ? Pulled the cowling on it today and did some
( cyphering,Jethro)studying and it does'nt look to bad. I ain't skeeered. Parts locally are $175.00 and some change. I guess thats competitive. When I get through with the work I'll post how it went as it may be helpfull for someone else. Oh, and by the way, how did you know I had a Clymers? Have you been in my house?

    Once again, Thanks

Please let me know when you do it too.

And every once in a while, I actually have a lucid thought with merit.
