    Difference between g2 & g3

Wondering what’s the difference between Helix 10 GN2 and GN3? Worth the extra money?

    Thanks

The G2N models are discontinued 2017/2018 year models. They have standard 83/200 kHz 2D sonar.

The G3N models are 2019 models. They have standard HW CHIRP 2D sonar and more power in the Imaging models=+in their model names.

The exception is the special run G2N models made in 2019 for the Black Friday sales at Bass Pro and Cabelas and are called HW PROMO models.
They have standard HW CHIRP 2D sonar, but not the extra power of the G3N's. Those were priced about at the same level as the close-out sale of the discontinued G2N's.

In the Imaging models, all have three Imaging frequencies= 455/800/1200 kHz single frequency or Chirped.

"Worth the extra money?" has to be determined by you. Old stuff or current stuff.

If your future plan includes a MEGA 360, it has to be a G3N DI+ or SI+ model Helix or G2 SOLIX

Don't know what the actual differences are, but I own 2 Helix 10 mega SI GN2s.
Got the whole system, 360, Ultrex and ethernet switch to make them all talk to each other.
One will freeze with 360 running, the other shows the 360 running, sometimes the SI fails on one side, fiddle with it and it comes back. They get switched (bow to console) and they still act up, HB can't duplicate problem.
They discontinued GN2 for a reason I guess, spend the money.

The G2N was discontinued at the normal 2-year production cycle as most every model before it.

If you buy new you'll get G3 certainly. The mistake I made with my G2 MSI is not getting at 10" screen. Regardless of generation - get the largest screen you can afford is my only recommendation. I recently added a 12" MDI to the bow and would love a MSI 10" or 12" to replace the 9" I have at the console. I didn't answer your question but size matters too. IMHO of course.
