    GREAT NEWS - ROSS BARNETT

It's looking like the size limit at the REZ. will probably be changed to 12 ". something that has been needed for some time , hopefully will remove some of the smaller fish that is every where on the lake and should help in getting more interest in tournaments on the lake.

It was in the Clarion Liar paper. We also know that the clubs sent petion with over 400 names on it. We all feel this is going to happen.

Re: GREAT NEWS - ROSS BARNETT (SAMRUSH)

I don't like the idea of that at all. We saw alot of positive results with the 15in minimum. You can go catch a ton of fish anytime. That is great for taking kids and people who don't fish that much. The quality bite improved as well with the 15in min.

What they need to do is quit spraying the grass that provides the fish and baitfish cover and habitat for certain foods they eat. The weights to win were at a peak before they started spraying and now they have gone down somewhat over the past 3 years or so. But it still usually takes a good bag to win.

Re: GREAT NEWS - ROSS BARNETT (Ramsey29)

Trey(Ramsey), let me say i agree and disagree with you. I aggree with you on the fact I am not in favor of the 12 in min, As far as tourneys go, those fish will do ntjing for you. I do not believe the lake is overpopulated with small fish. The lake is 33000 acres it will sustain a huge number of fish. like you I believe the 15 in is the way to go. However many people her dissagree with me. However I disagree with you on the weight thing. I fish a ton of tourneys on this lake, and it is every bit as good now as it has been for a while. This spring my partner and I came in with over 19 and didn't get a check. i have seen weights like that not get a check or get a bottem end check at best. And for the spraying, have you been to the rez lately? The PRVA ran out of spraying money in the budget, and now you have to dodge 1/2 acre blobs of hyacynth floating in the river, it has many back lakes choked off. They need to continue control spraying, not eradication spraying.

Re: GREAT NEWS - ROSS BARNETT (frogfish202)

It's a done deal fellas....no matter if we like it or not. According to the biologist that attented the TBF meeting at BASSPRO sunday it will take effect in January. they say that according to their creel surveys they don't think Barnett needs a minimum at all.

Me personally, I think the 15" minimum is great and I know I can't win a tourney with 5, 12" fish, but I do understand why the bass clubs put the petition together. They want to be able to weigh in fish and keep membership interested in fishing Ross. I know how frustrating this can be. I have been the president of the only "Barnett only " bass club that I know of for the past two years. We started out with 45 members and were down to 12 by June. They all had the same complaint.

for the record......My club had no participation in the petition. It was mainly out of town clubs that have to travel here to fish.
