Thumbs Up Bought a "Performance cooler"

With 4th of July week off and 10 days at the lake right around the corner, I pulled the trigger on an RTIC 110 cooler with a few accessories

I am looking forward to many a cold beverage out of this monster

Then you just run out faster and have to go buy more faster. Its a neverending cycle.

    Ya, no kidding!
Here's a hint, always place the cooler where you want it to be before filling it! Those things take two men and a boy to carry once their full of beer and ice.

The key to long last ice in ANY coolers, even the fancy ones are to precool the night before with ice or frozen water bottles to get the inside chilled.

That and using big blocks of ice.

I make my own out of Tupperware at home, then top off with your typical grocery store ice.

I can camp from Monday-Friday with my 45qt and still have ice left when I get home Friday.

At least you didnt wast money on a yeti! The walmart ozark trail stuff is right on their level now. They went through some lawsuit trouble a couple/few years ago but thats done with and they got a line of stuff that is basically the same difference minus one being a status symbol.....well if you think about it they both may be status symbols, just not sure they both wanna be!

Whenever I go camping we use the big coolers. Been pretty successful loading up the stuff, putting a layer of ice but not completely covering it. then keeping a closed bag of ice on top of it all. Closed bag of ice suprisingly keeps (if youre not opening over and over, im talking more for storing food where you only open a few times daily), and the rest of the ice keeps longer than it normally would too. Pretty good system.

We take two coolers, one for food and one for drinks. This helps keep the food cooler closed and cold.

The Ozark Trail coolers are very very good coolers. Have three different ones and an Orca and they all work beautiful. Dont know why anyone would pay the outrageous price for a Yeti

The wally world OT works very well. I see Yeti type knockoffs everywhere now. Aldi’s had one last time I was there. For ice, I freeze 32 or 64 oz bottles with drinking water or lemonade, tea, etc. Keeps stuff cold and you can drink it when it thaws.

For a short day on the boat a cheap Coleman is good enough for me. Longer trips the heavy molded coolers are great. Only drawback to the Ozark Trail brand? NO STICKERS!!! (But I go to BPS and buy them for my truck window hoping nobody actually checks my boat)

I personally dont give a RIP about status....I will say my RTIC cooler is easily one of the best $100 I have spent. It lives in the bed of my truck and is on its 3rd Texas summer. Still looks great and keeps my water as cold as ever. I was going through a cooler per year so now its about paid for itself.

It landed today and was as advertised which is good. This thing weighs almost 50lbs empty so I will take the advice from the board and lock it on the tri-toon (why I bough it) before I fill it :-)
