    hybrib bass largemouth/spots

OK guys. I have fished 2 different tournaments now, 1 on Sinclair and last month on Oconee where the fish had all the traits of spots but no actual tongue patch or vice versa. Connected dorsals etc.. Does anyone know of a fisheries biologist or anything that confirm if these fish are crossing or not. This could really complicate things on some lakes and get people either in trouble or cost them a tournament!!

Don't see how it could hurt anyone, unless they tryed to weigh in a striper. I don't think that any of our lakes have separate lenght requirments, but if they are the tongue pach is the deciding factor in the fishing regs.

Lake Oconee has spots and large. Large has a 14" limit and spots have 12". Oconee isn't the only lake in Ga that this can happen on and hurt you.

They think the spots and largemouth are doing that up here on Norman!

What do you think spot or lmb???

On the fish I have caught they have had the same appearance and the connected dorsal fin. Its can be confusing for sure!!

At our last federation meeting here in TN it was comfirmed that the spots, largemouth, and smallmouths are crossbreeding. Mainly the spot. He waits for the other to lay the eggs then he federlizes the eggs.

Spotzillas. If they are white with racing stripes stripers, broken on the belly hybrids, both fun on TW but when they hook up and stay down you know they ain't gonna count in a T.

My understanding is that spots and LM DO NOT interbreed....

OK - can someone get a REAL bioligist on here so we can determine what the heck is going on. Like I said before, people that don't know any better can disqualify or penalize someone for bringing in a short fish if they don't think its a spot and it really is!!
