My partner Jack and I fished the opening SAC Russell Tx this past Sat. I don't know the reason, but we only had 6 boats enter. We started off where we normally do, a point and some pockets that lead to a shoal. I quickly lost 3, 1 on a buzzbait, and two on plastic. Jack boated 3, on crankbaits and plastics. Fish were from 1 to 15 feet scattered.
Moved to an island with a few good small points and good deep pockets. Picked up a few more fish on plastics an crankbaits, and began culling.
I got a good LM on the lea side of a windy point on zoom G-tail. Wound up being BF of Tx, about 3.5 lbs.
Moved to a another area of three good points and pockets and continued to cull.
Wound up at weigh-in with 11.75 lbs. Good for second place but no money.
520 and Spooney took 1st with 11.90.
Congratulations guys.
I keep thinking one of the three I missed early would have given Jack and I that extra 2.7 oz. we needed to win. Oh well, there's always next month.
Guys, this is a pretty good Tx circuit, so if you like to fish Russell, come on out.
Next Tx is 12-2-06. you can still get in and qualify for the year end Championship.(minimum $10,000 for 1st) Which by the way, looks like it will be on Lake Guntersville(big fish country). Thanks.
