    Lake Wales

Planning on going down to Lake Wales this weekend to do some scouting and fishing. Plannes are to fish Crooked lake one day, then Lake Reedy the next. Not that familiar with Reedy, fished Crooked about 4 years ago. If anyone has some helpful info, I sure could use it. Launching out of county ramp at both lakes.

I am not sure if you can get out of the little lake on Crooked. With a G3 and the recent rains you should be ok. Haven't fish Reedy and haven't been on Crooked in about 6 months. watermellon flukes were working back then.

Crooked looks like it is up pretty good from what it was but I would be safe and put in at Bob's Landing. It is gonna take a lot of water to make the cut to the main lake passable. The $7.00 launch fee sucks but it is a nice ramp. As far as Reedy there should be flipping fish in the Kissimmee Grass, and if you a side imaging unit do some riding around there are a lot of brush piles. If you find any throw crankbaits. There is a lot of Eel Grass that holds fish, as well as pads that usually has a good frog bite. This is also a very good spinnerbait lake, good luck.

Yeah, I would play it safe and go to Bob's well, but be prepared to winch the boat on because if you even Look like you are powerloading, you are going to get screamed at. Don't ask me how I know.

    Re: Lake Wales (62Fairlane)

I have been hearing nothing but bad things about that place. I understand the power loading thing. Gotta be tuff on the old timers. I just don't see why they charge 7 bucks for the ramp fee. The ramp isn't that good, parking is the worst. and if you look at the owners wrong the start yelling at you. Geuss they didn't figure it out when some of the top florida tx's drop them from there schedule.
OK, now Im done venting, hows the fishing there.

Lake Arbuckle is great!! Just make sure that you get off the water before dark. Old man that runs the gate is kinda odd. Have fished it a few times nad had a lot of fun. I know there are big bass there because a gator showed me and my wife his catch before he ate it one morning. The ramp is good and the parking is good as well.
Try Walk -N-Water while you are down as well. some of the oldtimers around there wont give you honest reports. There is big fish there to.
