my Evinrudes have never been decarbed !

I have a 1997 Evinrude 200 Oceanpro model # E200TXEUA serial # G04307226, VRO, a 1993 Evinrude 115 premix, son had a E-rude 1994 200 VRO, none has been decarbed. I read on here where to do the gradual decarb method when it has never been done. Is this done by adding the reccomended amount of seafoam (1 oz/gal) to the tank ? OK to run as usual when doing this ?
    Thanks

Yes to your way of decarb or run a oil tank full of XD-100.

Seafoam is cheaper then 2 gallons of XD 100. It works really well too.

You could also run small amounts of engine tuner through it. In other words maybe a quarter can, and then run it with just seafoam in the tank, and then put a little more engine tuner to it.

I decarbed my old flow, and it made it tough to plane with a shooter prop. Funny thing is the boat planed fine with it when I bought it.

What Elgin and CM have stated many times on these boards, NEVER decarb an engine that you don't know has been decarbed. Gradually soak the carbon and break it up in smaller pieces with an additive or xd-100 that the engine itself can dispose of rather than big chunks of diamonds that will cut yer engine to pieces...........make sense??

Yes it makes sense, so just add the seafoam to the gas as the can recommends ? (1 oz/gal) & run the motor normal ?

Yessir, as per the IM I answered. Follow the directions on the can, do this for a couple three tanks of fuel and then decarb,
