    Hank and Skip with 18
    2&3 had 14
    Big fish 5.92
    70+ boats

A tuff day for sure. Had to work hard all day for each better bite. The big fish was caught around noon time. My hands are so sore But the prize makes it feel good! I will say, time on the water prefishing really paid off.

Fishing for bass in Everglades canals has been great, but fishing on the flats has been even better.

That's where Hank Krieg and Skip Reed caught 18.49 pounds of fish to top a 72-boat field and win Sunday's qualifier tournament in the King of the Glades 5 Open Team Series out of Everglades Holiday Park.

Krieg and Reed, who won the first King of the Glades title, swam plastic lizards in water that was just deep enough for Reed's boat to navigate. They won $1,600, which included $180 for the second-biggest bass, Krieg's 5.26-pounder.

Mike and Ryan Hicks were second at 14.74 to win $750. Jason Kramer and Kirk Kastner were third at 14.71 to win $440, plus Kastner won another $500 for the big bass at 5.92 and they won a drawing for a ProCool livewell system.

Jeff Justice and Danny Shelton were fourth at 13.75 to win $250. Terry and Gene McCartha were fifth at 13.4 to win $110. The next tournament is Feb. 6. Visit kingoftheglades.com or call Mike Lendl at 954-393-5596.
