    90 Ranger 333v w/ Johnson VRO140... Trim gauge not working

    My trim gauge started to not work correctly. It goes all the way up and then when you start to move it down, it moves a little then goes all the way to the bottom yet the motor has not moved much..... I have no idea where to begin on this... Any help would be much appreciated.

    Trim the motor all the way up and support it on the motor bracket. On the inside of the Port motor mount look at the bend you will see a sending unit with the arm on it. Turn your ignition to on and move the arm, watch the gauge to see if it moves. Sometimes the grounding cable gets twisted around the arm and can cause it to bind.

    I just moved the arm up and down with the sending unit It does indeed move up and down, but you can move the lever a small amount and then the trim needle will be pinned...... I just tried to call you!!! no answer!
