    Hey, Maxpress

What is going on down on Seminole right now?

I can't catch a break in the weather to fish Guntersville and other lakes up this way. A hurricane, cold front, hard rains tsunami, monsoon, tornado, heat wave or something keeps sweeping through and ruining the weekends. I thinking about heading a little south, but not as far as central FL.

I have a lot of college buds from Sowega to catch up with too.

And since you are never found on the Georgia board, I looked here...

    Re: Hey, Maxpress (Rawthumb)

I wish I knew what was going on at the lake. I haven't heard any reports the last couple of weeks and I haven't been. The weather has been taking it's toll on my fishing time also. It seems like the few days the weather cooperates I have to catch up on everything else I've been putting off.

The Flint is full and muddy at my house and I imagine it's about the same on the Chattahoochee River side of the lake and Spring Creek as well. It's been about 3 weekends since I've been bass fishing and I had a pretty good morning that day fishing pads and grass lines in some of the sloughs off the Flint in the upper part of the lake. The next weekend I spent my free day at some boat races over on the Chattahoochee near Columbia, AL, and last weekend I had a special request for some channel cats for a get-together on Sat nite so I spent Sat bottom fishing on the Flint and had good luck there. I do plan to go bass fishing on the lake this weekend - weather permitting.

I always forget that I live in Sowega until somebody reminds me. Even though I've lived here for 20 years now, I grew up in NW Fla and still work in FLA and I live only about 15 or 20 minutes from the state line now. It seems like all I do in GA is sleep, cut grass, and PAY TAXES.

I check out the GA Club every now and then but most all of their get togethers are in N GA too far away for me to attend. At least the FLA Club planned a tournament on Seminole...even though it was cancelled because it was on Easter Saturday. Maybe next year...

Neal as you know our next FL BBC Club event is at Lochloosa this Sept. I would still like to do an event on Seminole, what do you think would be a good time after Sept to hold one there?

    Ed,

There is a BASS Bassmasters NW Florida Division tournament there on Oct 9. A week after that would be good but that is getting close to the Santee Cooper Rally date and I know several of our members are planning to make that trip. Starting in November, Wingate's and the other lodges on the lake are wrapped up with duck hunters till January. It might be better to wait till after the Classic and the Florida Rally in March - maybe late March/early April of next year (just not on Easter weekend ). Late September/early October is usually the second most productive time of year here.

BTW, here's a link to Wingate's. I'm sure they can give you some good info. http://www.wingateslodge.com/t...s.htm

Here's another good spot on the Florida side of the lake in Sneads. They host about as many tournaments out of here as Wingate's - just not quite as famous.

    Re: Hey, Maxpress (Maxpress)

I never fish Seminole this time of year, always early spring or winter. And I ahve not made it down for some time, it's just so much easier to fish the AL lakes.

What is the status of the grass this time of year? Is it matted up well and ready for the frogs and rats?

All of my favorite grassy areas on G'ville are behind schedule this year. Due to the unusaul weather, I guess.
