About the only portion of Lay that I fish anymore is extreme up river. 1 to 3 miles or so south of Logan M dam. In mid-Oct, and depending on turbine flow, I'll make a trip down there to chase some spots in moving water. I seldom catch a really nice largehead during this period up that far, and seldom catch a spot over 3 lbs or so. Last 3 years or so....best 5 spots on any given trip up river might have went 13-14 lbs. That might place you, but I doubt it would place very well against those head chasers back down in the main lake. It's been over 10 years since I fished down lake, so I would be more lost than you are down there....and it was never an easy lake for me to figure out how to fish on any given day to start with.
