Nice pictures, great boat, and wonderful performance numbers. I don't think I could get used to those fishing seats though, my legs are much too long.

I know where you're going with this one.

I will stay out of this. I thought maybe there was some kind of gear ration option.

    Re: (mark)

If you want to fly down (I'm sure Mercury will pay for it), you can take a ride in my 80+ mph Stratos 200 Pro XL w/ 225 E-Tec H.O.

There's a 201 Pro my dealer just sold in this area with a 225HO. I know for a fact it hit 81mph with very little setup time.

Anyone that wants to come down and take a ride, I can prove to you that this boat will do what I posted. I cant help it if the Merc wont do that. Had a 1997 hull with a 200 mariner on it and the best it ever done was 68 mph GPS.

Re: New pride & joy with 225 HO E-Tech (jimop)

Not trying to slam you and I am an Evinrude man all the way, in fact I have a 200 HP E-TEC hanging on the back of my boat. But facts are facts, if you plug the numbers you listed into a prop slip calculator, you will have a theoretical speed of 80 MPH. Theoretical speed is the speed you would travel with no prop slip. Most bass boats have between 9 and 14% slip so its highly unlikely that your getting 0% slip.

So one of four things are going on here:

1- Your exaggerating and not really going 80 MPH GPS
2- Your Tach is way off and your turning 6500 RPM (not sure what the rev limiter is on the E-TEC)
    3- Your swinging bigger than a 27 P prop
4- A little of all the above.

If you want, go to http://go-fast.com/Prop_Slip_Calculator.htm plug in the numbers and see for yourself.

Why do I care how fast this boat will or will not run? Many newbies read these boards and based on information they find here, they go off and buy the same setup then wonder why they only run low 70's.

Re: New pride & joy with 225 HO E-Tech (fish finder)

I believe that calculator misses effects from cupping. I've been accused of telling false numbers when running my boat at 65 mph (GPS) 5400 rpm with 24" Raker. This almost equals the theoretical top speed using that calculator... My guess is cup makes the difference, but I'm no prop guru. Anyone with better suggestions?

Re: New pride & joy with 225 HO E-Tech (MagnusL)

Use these numbers and try...I have negative slippage according to the calc

    1.86 gears....25pitch Tro4.....5500rpm....69.8mph = -infinity slip

You can't rely on them things for every application. There are exceptions to the rules, for cupped props you aer supposed to add some pitch for the calc to do it properly....
