lay lake, mitchell lake, jordan lake questions

i was planning to go to guntersville toward the end of july but thanks to some people backing out of going i canceled the reservation i had on this big nice lake house. now i'm looking for something for just me, the wife, and the kids. i noticed that the bassmaster elite series trophy chase is the weekend we were planning to go to guntersville so i looked at lakes near there and came up with lay, jordan, and mitchell.

which one would be more fun to fish in or have better fish? how much recreational traffic (jet skis, etc)? just looking for something quiet where we can stay and i can fish and the kids can swim and play and tube a little.

To be honest I'm not sure about the traffic but I have been to lake Jordan several times and the fishing is the best of the best in my opinion. Never fished Mitchell. Jordan has some great spotted bass

Of those choices I would definately consider Jordan. If you like catching spotted bass you can't go wrong there. Our club fishes there once a year and we have more people catch limits there than anywhere else as a whole. Also, its not crowded with jet skis and pleasure boaters.

Mitchell is the easier to fish of Jordan and Mitchell (I don't fish Lay often enough to have an opinion of it). I have a place on Jordan and the fishing there can be great, but its very finicky in the summer.

well, the houses that i was looking at renting on lay and jordan are rented. looks like it may be mitchell that we'll stay at. waiting to hear back if it is available. if not then i'm not sure what i'm going to do.

the Elites are fishing Jordan and Alabama River end of July, not Guntersville. Stay w/ Guntersville.

With Mitchell in the middle Jordan and Lay are both easy drives from Mitchell. You can easily say fish Mitchell in the morning and Jordan or Lay that afternoon. Lots of ways to catch fish on the Coosa, you'll have a good time.

There are ONLY 12 Elite anglers fishing both lakes that qualified for the Chase of Angler of the Year. I'm pretty sure they won't hog up ALL of lake Jordan or the Alabama River and if the fishing is slow you can watch a few pros or just catch the weigh-ins.

Well, lake Mitchell it is. Staying July 21-24. Plan on fishing the 22nd on Mitchell, 23rd on lay, and 24th on Jordan and going to the weigh ins for the elite tournament.

LM will probably be scattered from shallow grass all the way to the ledges. spots should mostly be deep on river ledges and humps. i would have a flipping stick and a frog for fishing shallow and some deep divers and shaky heads. summer is my worst time of the year to fish the coosa. if you can find some creeks with a little cooler water then you might run into some bigger schools of fish but i never seem to find them stacked up this time of year
