Fished a tourney at Wheeler Saturday and while standing in the bag line, I was talking with a older gentleman and he telling me that they saw a gator somewhere upriver from Ingalls Harbor. He watched it for a few minutes and he estimated it at 6 to 8 ft.
Yep....they are there. They've been spotted up in Decatur rather frequently, one in Elk, I even heard of one on Wilson.

Yes, they are there, they was put in Wheeler lake several years ago to help with the beaver population. Game people said they recovered all of them (gators), but not so.......I have seen one myself.![]()
Steve, we're not talking about the blow up floatie gator you make me pull you on behind the Bullet![]()

Man they are all over Blackwell swamp and out on the Refuge! And I mean I have personally seen 3 or 4 together one day sunning couple years ago and they all were 6ft ++. But they are ALL over Eufaula as well and numerous other lakes. I think this is about far north as they can survive, in a river system. Dont know for sure but buddy works for DNR on Refuge. I will ask him what the estimated population on Wheeler is

I've seen a couple of them myself on Flint Creek and while bowhunting on the refuge near Blackwell swamp a couple of years ago.
