I am from NC and we are heading to Lake Guntersville in 2 weeks, any suggestions on fisherman friendly (i.e. boat parking with access to electrical outlets) hotels around the Scottsboro area? Thanks![]()

Jameson Inn is nice. Next to a Ruby Tuesdays so you can walk next door. Walmart down the street. Plugs for your boat. http://www.jamesoninns.com/hotel_detail.asp?id=83

The Jameson is nice, there is a big new comfort inn down past walmart....pretty much all the motels in scottsboro are fishermen friendly.
I have stayed at americas best value inn and suites several times...its not the best, but ranks in there about $55/night. there are cabins at goosepond if you have several coming down

Days Inn is in the same area as the above mentioned. I've stayed there three or four times and have had no troubles getting the boat in and out and getting it charged. Just about everywhere down there is fisherman friendly, you shouldn't have any trouble. Good Luck!![]()

Thanks for the feedback, any suggestions on a quality public ramp nearby that has a good dock and parking?![]()
There is a new Hampton Inn next to Walmart that has the pull through parking spaces in back that you plug your boat into.....no need to unhook your trailer. They will match the Jameson Inn price , ie $60 or so.

A nice thing about the Hampton Inn is that it's very close to the Bueunavista Restarant. They serve good authentic Mexican food.
The GPS coordinates below are from Googe earth.
Public ramps - the closest is Jackson County Park, just about 1 mile or so south of the Hampton off US 72. From the Hampton, turn left onto US-72, then turn left @ Mickey D's and follow the road. You'll see the park sign/gate on your left about a mile down where the road makes a slight right. 34° 38.161'N, 86° 0.960'W
If that doesn't suit you, take AL-279 (Broad St) toward Guntersvile and you'll find several ramps. The first is Scottsboro City Park. It's a little hard to find the first time, but it has a 2-lane ramp and a nice courtesy dock. It's secluded back off the highway a mile or more. Both the City and County parks are in Roseberry Creek. 34° 37.070'N, 86° 2.408'W
Goose Pond is a few miles south of Scottsboro on AL-279 in North Sauty. Unfortunately, it's not a public ramp - costs $2-$3/day to launch and park. 34° 34.835'N, 86° 4.914'W
10 miles past Goose Pond is Waterfront - two decent ramps & courtesy docks, plenty of parking, and Waterfront Bait and Tackle right across the highway.Waterfront is in the cove behind Preston Island. 34° 30.326'N, 86° 11.301'W
There's also a small public ramp on the right just across the BB Comer bridge on AL-35. Single lane ramp, OK courtesy dock, but the parking lot is narrow and a little tight. Even though it's the closest ramp to my place, it's not one of my favorites because it's literally right on the highway. More temptation than I like if you know what I mean. 34° 37.963'N, 85° 58.309'W
You may wonder how I know all these places since I live in Wichita, KS. We have a home near Scottsboro and are retiring there this summer.![]()

Thanks Kerry! 31 more working days and I'm hanging up my keyboard for good. We probably won't make it down until June or July - can't happen soon enough to suit me though.![]()

That America's Best Value Inn and suites is kinda rough. The kinda place where they don't change the sheets too often. Water ran out of my shower into the carpet. They had plenty of plug-ins if you had a long extension cord. I got it for $41 thru travelocity. I think I will pay a little more and stay at the new Days Inn by the High school. VERY nice and 25 or so great places to pull into and charge without having to unhook.
Thanks to all for the information we ended up at the Hampton Inn and the folks there were GREAT and so were the accommodations! We had fun, caught a few on Thursday afternoon BEFORE the storm, struggled on Friday with the front moving through and the nice 15 to 20 mph breeze! The hot cheeseburger from the Waterfront was much welcomed and was the first time we had been out of the wind all day. Saturday we had a little engine trouble so only ended up with couple of small largemouths and two small stripers before we headed home around noon.
