After being so warmly welcomed even though I haven't moved to Ozark yet...

Now it seems that my...uh...er.... my wife's new (to her) house has hit a snag and would like to converse with an Alabama Barrister (lawyer) one that is up to snuff as it relates to "Property Law" a brief synopsis: My Mother-In-Law purchased a home in Ozark in or around 2005 and when she did so she also bought the mortgage for the house next door (this is the pad that The War Dep't. and I were/are going to move into... The M-I-L rented the home to her "cousin" and he failed to make the last few monthly payments. The M-I-L evidently has to go through a foreclosure and then has to go through an auction? and it was said that anybody could bid on the house and as long as they pay the back fees and court costs the house would be theirs? Something stinks in Denmark...
The Lawyer she has now appears to be dragging his loafers as the "cousin" was supposed to be OUT on 15Dec08 and the lawyer didn't file any paperwork yet
Sound screwy yet? Are you a lawyer? Do you know a lawyer who actually works in that area? or at all? Please respond w/an IM so we can converse via the computer and/or phone
    Danke

Not a lawyer, don't even know one, try to stay away from them. When it comes to real estate they can make you pull your hair out with all the rules you have to follow, it is going to be a slow process. Just to evict someone can take six months. And trying to get the courts to settle property disputes will take longer. Sorry to hear this especially since it involves family. Hope it works out for you and the war dept.

My MIL allowed her oldest son to stay with her for "a short time" to allow him to get back on his feet. That was over 7 years ago. This azz is the original sorry bastage. He is so low life, he'd need a 10 foot ladder to kiss a snake's azz. My wife is the executor of the estate and tried to have him evicted. It is very close to impossible. He has what is known as squatter's rights and is protected by law.
    Good luck

In The People's Republic of California they call it "standing" and if you invite "Uncle Jim"to stay for a bit as soon as he gets any mail he resides there and it becomes what is a patrol officer's best friend "a civil matter"
