4 year Floridian from Ca. moving to Ozark, Alabama ... any good fishing nearby?

Hello Group- The War Dep't. (my lovely wife ) has informed me that her Mom has asked that we move up to Ozark (by Dothan, Ala.) after my bride finishes her college education in the medical office management program she is currently enduring. I was wondering if there is any good fishing in or around that area if anybody knows? I did the "Google" search and found one lake that you can take a boat but can't use the outboard motor you can just use the trolling motor, the lake has a fella's name and also Dade County or similar if my memory serves me correctly?

Also if y'all know of any big medical offices in the area or any medical office buildings for that matter so I can tell my life partner so she doesn't fret. I know the Dothan area has a golf course that holds a bigger tournament where the moolah flows pretty freely.

I recently took possession of a 2005 Nitro 882NX w/a Mercury XR6 150 (08Nov.08) and currently I reside on a Chain'oLakes system here in Central Flori-Duh (Citrus County) and the convenience is fantastic and I hope that I fall into a similar situation up in L.A. (When I first heard that I thought the fella meant the "L.A." I know Los Angeles)

    I appreciate any info.

    Benny

I don't think Seminole would be that far away either.

Hey Benny,....welcome to A-l-a-b-a-m-a..........we gots us a lot of fishin holes here....would love to have you join in with us for our tourneys........bring the "war dep't." with you.

We are a very physical organization......... we do a lot of:

    1. Stepping on toes
    2. Jumping to conclusions
    3. Running our friends down......etc.

If you are not being picked on here about something then that means you are not accepted or loved..................look at me....I am loved by all! I am blessed!!!

There are a few here that are really "not right",....if you know what I mean.....we let them hang around and fish with us because the thought of them hunting with guns is very scary. Don't believe all that you read on here.

Chime in anytime...........glad to have you here.

BTW....Dothan is a growing medical hub in South Alabama....their long range goals have them pursuing the goal of becoming a major health care provider for the south.

You will love eufaula! ANd if you want to venture north we have Guntersville, Pickwick, Wheeler and Wilson on the northern end. You have the Coosa River chain mid state. Alabama is the blessed with so many outstanding fisheries. Good luck on the move north

If you go to eufaula and put in at Lake Point it's 70 miles from Ozark. Some other places to launch at farther down on the South side will be a little closer but lake point is the best ramp. Lake Seminole is about the same.

I appreciate the warm welcome from y'all and I'll give y'all fair warning prior to my arrival. I am headed up to "L.A." for some bird next week and do some surveillance of my new digs...

from Ozark, you will be closest to Eufaula, Columbiana (river below Eufaula dam), Seminole. Don't overlook the lake on Fort Rucker if you can get access or Dale County Lake. Some very nice bass have come out of Dale County Lake over the years (10lb+)

I have fished out of Columbiana which would probably be 30-45 minutes from Ozark at the most a few times and it has some very nice fish in it but so does Eufaula and Seminole.

Dothan has two fairly large hospitals for the area (Flowers and I believe Southeast but don't quote me), a bone and joint specialist, a rehab center and may have some outpatient type places. I believe Ozark also has a hospital, but not certain. Enterprise is about 20 minutes away and has a couple of medical offices.

Let us know when you get up this way.

    Take care,

    Steve

Actually the river is the Chattahoochie River(spelling?). Never heard it called Columbiana before, but I am from Columbia which is on the river....lol

We have monthly tournaments on the river and we would love to have ya fish with us.

The river has some great fishing...I pulled a 10-03 from there during a tournament once...my partner caught it, I just netted it...lol

The Ft. Rucker lake is nice, can't even begin to spell it though.

Lake Eufaula is great as well as Seminole. Both are easy driving distances from Ozark.

Like others have said, Dothan has plenty of medical facilities. I believe it is the largest employer in the city.

Shoot me an IM if ya want to go fishing sometime. I live just east of Dothan now.

Look forward to having ya up here.
