Lake Guntersville Info

I will be headed to Virginia next week, so I may have the opportunity to stop and fish Guntersville for a day. I am from South Texas, and I have never been there. Can anyone give me any general info to help reduce the time spent searching? Will the fish be in pre-spawn? Should I stick to main lake grass? Should I go to the points? Should I look shallow or deeper?

Any info would be appreciated. I will only have one day there to try to fish. I may get to return in June, but I am not sure at this point.

I would fish mid-river (South sauty / North Sauty area). The fishing has been much better there so far this year. Fish are just moving shallow this week for the spawn. Will still be some on the shallow river ledges where there is grass. The key is grass. Must find grass and fish rattle baits just over the top of it (ticking the grass). If this doesn't work I would find more grass and fish rattle baits over the top of it.
Try areas with a depth of 1-5' and grass. Don't forget the grass.

Thanks. I appreciate the information. I have seen the lake on the television, and I am looking forward to getting to stop by for a day. I like to fish new lakes when I can.

I fished Gunts today and only had 4 fish . The weight on the four was a little over 18 lbs. . Big fish was a 7lb 14 oz kicker . Fished the same rattle baits as mentioned .
