Hotel/Housing options for Guntersville (Scottsboro area)

Guys, I'll be up fishing the BFL Choo Choo division on Mar. 1. I'm planning on staying Thurs nite and Friday nite and I'm looking for something close to the Goose Pond area.... Can anybody give me some options for somewhere inexpensive (doesn't have to be 5 star, just no rats for bed partners) and that has somewhere safe, convienent to park the boat?? Thanks.....

There are several motels in Scottsboro that are only minutes away from Goose Pond Colony. I've stayed at the Days Inn a couple of times and it's "okay" but nothing special. They were clean and fairly well kept, though, and pretty reasonably priced. If you stay there, try to get a room on the backside of the motel near the pool if at all possible. The parking spaces there are long enough that you can keep your boat hooked to your tow vehicle and there are plenty of outside electric connections to charge your batteries.

There is also a Jameson Inn and a Comfort Inn on US-72 in Scottsboro. I've never stayed at either one but I'm told that they're both actually very good.

Here's a link to some phone numbers if you're interested: http://www.alabama-hotels.org/...ygfeA

That's the rate for the "old" floating condos during the off season which runs from 10/1 to 2/28. The rates for 3/1 through 9/30 range from $125 to $175 per night. None of these prices include the 12% lodging tax.

I'm sure they're nice but that's a little rich for my blood at $200+ per night. Then again, the new condos will sleep up to six people so it wouldn't be bad at all if you had a group of guys and split it six ways.

Appreciate the info guys..... But yeah, I'm going to have to find something cheaper than $100+ a night. I was thinking more of something in the range of $29.99 a night with free HBO and a bowl of Corn Flakes for breakfast In all seriousness, I would just sleep in the Yukon but I might start getting a little musty smelling after a couple of nights, these tourneys start getting pricey enough before you figure in lodging, meals, etc....

Avery, I'm going to check on that Days Inn..... Thanks..

We stayed at a Best Western or Days Inn. Not sure now. It was right next door to the Sizzler in Scottsboro. $50 or less a night, free continental breakfast starts at 5:00, and there are outlets to charge your boat in the back.

Anybody familiar with the Econo Lodge on Willow St.? Just checked their rates and they have the cheapest rates but wanted to see if anybody else might have stayed there...

Econo lodge isnt bad but when we stayed there, they had sewage running down the hallways

They do have parking to leave your truck and boat hooked up w/ electricity.

I'll be down for the BFL too but think we will be staying on 72.
