    Lay Lake Help GPS MAPS

    Hi,
My names Chris. I live in Hoover, but have a trailer in Okamo Marina. Just got a Ranger Bass Boat. I know the lake area fairly well on the Power Plant side, but everywhere else Im lost. What is the best LAY Lake map to download? Where do I get it? And will it work with all GPS units? I hope to meet some of you guys in get togethers/tournaments. Also is there an email list of the Alabama anglers?

Does your graph have the the ability to recieve a chip? Or is this a handheld? Really according to what type unit you have.

There's a sponsor on this site that has a pretty good GPS map of Lay that will work with either the Lowrance or the Garmin. The map has all the Hot spots of his own experience in Guiding bass trips and is very well marked out. His web site is Alabamalakes.com and his name is Larry. This is money well spent...

Im really clueless to all this. I had seen his product. But I thought it was a sort of CD rom Tutorial, with GPS hot spots. Not an actual Map that you can download to your GPS.

Hey it's really according to what you want. I like the Lowrance 480 or 332c which is a graph and GPS. I use the Navionics hotmaps southeast. Which has MOST lake sin Alabama and around the southeast. THe Navionics Hotmaps are the best in my book. They are a little MMC card that goes into your GPS system that has all cordiantes of lake.

If you buy your GPS from Marks Outdoors they will install sometimes for free, if not at a small charge the Alabama Highways and Lakes in your Gps for you. In my opinion between this software and the GPS coordinates from Larry Rosser programmed into the Gps you will never need another map in this state. And the highways comes in handy getting to the ramps. I had the Garmin that mounted in the boat or you could run it portable off of batteries in your truck(I think it was the 326C, I sold the boat with it a few months ago). In my opinion the Garmin is much more user friendly than the Lowrance and I have owned both. But it is a personal decision...
