Opaleski,
Yes, my X21LE with a 250 VMax chine walked, real bad, when I first got it. I changed out the prop that came on the boat from the factory (a four blade) to a Yamaha T-1 three blade. It was like I was driving someone else's boat; no more chine walking until it got over 72 mph, and even then it wasn't too bad. With the 4 blade, it was scary (dangerous) to try to go over 65 mph.
How do you like the boat--What don't you like about it?
Best that we have seen is 82.7 mph/gps with 2 people and full of grear. You do have to drive it at that speed but it's not bad. We didn't know we were running that fast tile we got back from long run to weigh in and we were checking things out when loading up. Not much different from 72 to 82 in chine walking, very little walking.

Opaleski,
What I like...
I absolutely love the aluminum hull; I fish real shallow a lot of the time and I know I would have damaged the gel coat on the bottom of a fiberglass boat by now. If IÂm by myself, on the front deck, I can maneuver in about 12 inches of water. I like how well it handles and runs; extremely fast, and smooth. I like the huge front deck and all the storage space in the compartments. There have been quite a few posts about the lack of dry storage, but I just put everything that I donÂt want to get wet in large plastic bins. The storage compartments are plenty big enough to accommodate several plastic bins. I like the cooler under the jump seat, plenty of room for a couple 6 packs and ice. It is a very comfortable and stable platform to fish from; IÂm not bothered much by boat wakes. I also like the all-aluminum trailer, no worries about paint pitting or rusting.
What I donÂt likeÂ
I donÂt like the layout of the battery compartments, there is only enough room for 3 batteries. That means I would have to sacrifice a storage compartment to upgrade to a 36V trolling motor. I donÂt like how low the transom sits in the water if I sitting at the console, the water line is only about 4-5 inches from the top of the transom. This means that when I come down off plane, I have to give it a little gas so the backwash doesnÂt overflow onto the back deck. My boat was made in 2005, which means the inside of the cranking battery compartment is an embarrassing ratÂs nest of wires. (IÂve heard that they have addressed this in the newer models.)
Someone asked me recently if I would buy another Xpress, knowing what I know about the one I have, and to be honest, I probably would there is no other aluminum boat on the market that has anywhere near the performance of an Xpress Xclusive Series boat.
Hope this helped you
We just rigged the new 2012 X-21 with 250 Evinrude Etec. First trip to the lake we hit 76mph and if we trimmed past that it hit the rev limiter. Turning a 26in Raker 2.
You definately need to drive it. Nothing will keep up with you from 0 to 70mph. Holeshot and acceleration are unbelievable. It's all the way up on the 10 inch jackplate at I believe the propshaft was 3-1/2 inches below the pad. We will try a 28" pitch next. I heard that a Fury 27 may be a good one to try on an Etec. Need just a little warm weather to try it though.![]()
After Mark worked my Yamaha T1 was not anywhere near as hard to drive. More or less drives itself![]()
82.7 mph/gps is max so far. You might need to move load around to help handling also.
