It is, but I want it right, I am pretty sure I am fishing Basschamps on Rayburn next year and that baby gets large in the wind.

Looks like someone was learning how to weld on your boat

Yeah I agree , I finished digging all the foam out tonight , tomorrow I'll cut all the material that I need to add to stiffen and get it welded on wed it and foam this weekend more and better structural foam. Weld the deck back on next week

That is bad!!! When I looked up in mine I'm glad it didn't look like that. The rear being cracked was bad enough.

Kevin , you wouldnt see any of this , its all up front under the deck and inner hull liner. Under all of the foam. I just new things were moving up there in rough water and the front left hull had a spot where it would move when you pushed on it with your palm. It will be fine, the outer hull is sound and believe me the rest will be too when I am done. I like the lines of the hull and the top decks are built very well just the inner support isnt what it could be if a little more time and material were spent.

Ok, I see where it is now better. I could see the very top of the braces when I had the front panel off.

good luck with your project. You got ALOT of patience to do all this work on boat. But like you said once you get it done it will be battle ready. How are you gonna put flotation back in (spraying) and are you gonna add more or keep the same in same place? Great time to upgrade wiring and any other project you got in mind..

yeah I have these things figured out pretty well, Lord knows I can sure destroy em.

On floation I think I am onto something , I found a company called US Compostites that sells two part liquid marine grade structural foam in pour form. I am cutting out some inner hull backing that are ribbed for strength to weld in and then installing some foam blinds to hold the foam in place and add strength. I will run a drain from my pedal recess and also re-locate the pedestal mount too, its in a stupid place. It shouldn't move at all. I do like doing the work I just hate poor workmanship and bad design. I swear I could build a line of 20 foot aluminum boats with .175 gauge , single consoles and 225 or 250 Pro XS that would hold up to a hard core backwater guy. Once my girls are on their own I may do that I have all the places figured out to get it done. "pipe dream" I guess!

I have an X19 a 2003 model I have always wanted to see the in side of one. I have a question or two. Are the only welds that are cracked the ones on the side braces. And the piece that runs along the botton keel how is it holding up. How did you know the welds were cracked because they are hidden. Thanks Dennis and good luck

Re: Cut the front deck off my x19 today. Lots of rough wa ... (NoodleRodDude)

After doing this with two different boats my opinion is the motor torque on the aluminum hulls is twice as hard as on glass. The lightweight I suppose , hit a big wave go up , torque left, crash down on the left front. If you follow the keel front to back , all of the damage is left front going back to the floor section of the boat...IE where the passengers feet would be or more so the very back of the left rod box.

Its beyond me why they dont add more bracing on the left front. I will take pics as I put it back together and foam it.

Its the same with the back too, they dont have enough "beef" on the transom either , they could add $300 in aluminum and 5 more fab hours to make it better but I guess they try to keep cost down. Knowing that the majority of these dont traverse 40 miles of waves to get to backwaters I suppose I can see why. Just dont agree I guess.

The piece on the keel inside the first 3 stitch welds are broken left from front to back fine on right.

I believe it was in 04 they redesigned the transom/rear deck area. 2001 was still in the evolution of the boat design. Remember, in 2001, "High Performance Aluminum Bass Boats" was still a new concept and the design was still pretty fluid. Looks like quit the project, make sure you take lots of pics.

gotcha, I did the back before I even put mine in the water. So far knock on wood no issues for me back there. I doubled up the splash well with 3/8 plate amd gussets then added a forward knee brace down to where I put a cross beam from stringer to stringer. Its where most guys' oil tanks are. I also added 1/2 in billit plates between the stock three knee braces and welded them in too.

Re: Cut the front deck off my x19 today. Lots of rough wa ... (cmtbasser)

I am not sure exactly when they did the new transom/rear deck design change, sometime in 04 but from the seats back is now the transom. I mean everything is tied together with braces and crossmembers. If I remember right I think there a 7 knee braces, two of which are tied to the stringers the run the length of the boat. My favorite are the two square tube main floor supports that tie the top of the transom to the frame behind the seat. Can't tell if the front has more or not but I would assume so since the X21 weight has gone from 1260 (in 2001) to 1540 (in 2006)lbs. 280lbs is a lot more aluminum. Less the 100lbs of that was the change from .100 to .125 thinkness so the other 180 must be more substructure and bracing.
