    2005 tr20x

    Need some input fast !!!!!!
Bought a 2005 tr20x new to me. was told buy the people at the dealer that i don`t need A TRANSOM saver. They don`t belevie in them. The transom is not the worry anymore. I have never seen a boat without one. Am I wrong in wanting one on this boat? thanks anyone!!

I can't imagine letting the motor bounce around on the trim cylinder. It's not so much the transom that you save, its the bouncing up and down on the trim hydraulics that could cause damage. The boats now a days have transoms that are probably strong enough to withstand the strain but the hydraulics is not. Of course the bouncing won't do the transom any good that's for sure.

I would not run my boat on the trailer without one. I have a 2005 X boat also and been running one since I rolled it out of the dealers rigging shop and have never had any problems.

Buy a newer model transom saver. I use the Lock-n-haul. Easy to install and super light. Don't get one of those heavy metal ones that attach to the trailer roller, then to the motor with a bungie cord. Those are worthless, IMO.

If you have a merc, use the bracket that fits the motor. I have the same boat and have used this and don't have any problems. I don't know anyone that uses the old style transom savers anymore.

I have a tr20x and use the lok n haul. I hated the old style transom saver. scrathed the lower unit even with towels etc.
You should always use one. Dealer dosent have a clue on ts's.
