    Etec warranty question

I am looking at a boat with a '05 200 HO Etec whose warranty runs out in '09. Can a warranty extension be purchased, if so how much? Is this motor stronger than early '05 Ficht Ram HO motors? Thanks!!

Klinger if you are buying this from an Evinrude dealer, USED, they can set you up thru FPC, the Co. that has handles the extended warranty for BRP. It is VERY important that the dealer be involved with this because if he is a part of it he is more likely to do any repair work for the money FPC will pay. It's not like the first 3 years factory warranty. Look into this very carefully and ask a lot of "WHat if?" questions of the dealer.

    Re: Etec warranty question (Garfish)

I was looking at a boat for sale by an individual, not a dealer. Will a dealer still sell a warranty for it?
    Thanks!

Klinger, if the extended warranty is with FPC, yes you can call FPC and pay $100 to put it into your name. If it's with someone else, I can't say. But I do know FPC and they did that with me.

'05 motor and the warranty runs out in '09? Must have been bought early '06

My '05 BRP warranty ran out in '08 (January)

Also, on the extended warranty, and again if it's FPC which I think it will be, make sure you have "Gap" coverage. Meaning coverage between the time BRP warranty expires and the time FPC picks up.

FPC did me right with the same motor, but I bought mine through the dealer. Dealer or individual, it doesn't matter, the warranty can be transferred.

    I highly recommend it.

To answer your question, you can purchase an extended warranty for an E-Tec if you do it before the factory warranty runs out.
