Custom Triton cover that came with my boat....

Mine is the one that has a strap running all the way along side the cover/sewn inside that comes out in the back on both sides. My question, what is the best way to tie it down, secure it and get it tight for trailering? Everytime I do, I catch a lot of air and it has even came loose in the back before. I have a 19X2...Thanks!!

That cover is not designed for trailering. you need to get one for that purpose. They have straps that connect to the trailer from bow to stern to ke ep it tight. you will end up shredding that one if you trailer it.

Is it not like the cover described in the "How to" pinned thread? That thread shows how to get the cover tight. BTW most people I know don't tow with the cover on anyway.

No, its not like that one. Mine fits tight and just comes down over the rub rail. I was told its made for trailering. It looks just like the ones the pros have on theirs when trailering. It is black and has Triton on both sides with a flap above the gas cap. I think its an attwood.

If it's an Attwood; which is what you described it IS a trailering cover.. I pulled mine to Kentucky over the weekend "in a downpoor"and have been for eight years and havent shredded anything.. A few have had staps sewed in the side to keep air from balloning the cover.. I position my seats stategically under the cover and cinch the crap out of it and get along fine..

It should also have one bellie strap that goes under the boat and attaches to a clip near where the gas tank access is

I kept something a little tall on the front deck, aka a 5 gallon bucket, then i tightened it up, but keep in mind over tightening will pop it up and over the rub rail and you will be flappin in the wind. its a trial and error thing.

The rope ratchet in that thread may be a helpful addition to cinch the edge tight.

Thanks guys! It does have the belly strap. I've pulled it several times with it on and get air toward the back. The two back corners, around the transom are usually where it wants to come up/off. I will just keep trying stuff and see what works for me!

I have the same cover and as stated above, attach the belly strap and tighten the ratchets at the rear and you're good to go. I have towed mine this way and have had zero problems. Btw, I never tow in the rain without a cover. I did it once and pulled the boat down the parkway in the rain and couldn't believe how much grit and grime there was in the boat....especially around the gauges. This may not bother some people, but I can't stand it.

Make sure the back end of the cover is under the "sponsons", and tighten the crap out of it, but I personally quit covering the boat when trailering because of all the scratches it leaves.

my atwood has ratchets or you can get them from walmart.

balloon comes from the air from the rear

solution for me was to jack the rear but seat high as the top of the windshield and keep the cover tight and just below the bumper rails.

i don't like balloons or water grim in the boat

always cover even on sunny hot days
