18XS real world speed 75° air temps with two in the boat and full livewells

I'm getting closer to getting a Triton. Never had one before. Anyway 150 HO Etec or 15 ProXS. I am NOT interested in which motor is better. They both are fine by me and my wallet. Will have a Jackplate too. Preferably a 8" Slidemaster.

    1. WOT on GPS speeds with two people in the boat and full live wells? Is 55 mph realistic?
    2. I will say 95% of the time I'll run at 4500-5000 rpms. Anyone have an estimated speed? 45mph?
    3. How many seconds to get on plane?

I started this endeavor back in the summer and have taken my time with this one. Thanks to all who have helped.

I have a heavier 196 Triton boat, with 150 Opti, 21 pitch Tempest Plus ,no jackplate, 2 people ,gear and water in live wells.....55-56 mph. Good holeshot, 3 seconds. About 4600 rpm @ 45 mph. Don't over prop if you want to carry load.

How heavy is your boat. I think the 18XS is 1690lbs. I'm think 22p max 21p might be the ticket for the type of load I plan carry. That should give a good hole shot. I don't mind loosing 2 mph at the top end. Thanks for your reply.

I have a TR 186 with a 150 Opti with a 23p Tempest+. With me, the wife, the dog, nearly 3/4 of a tank of fuel and some water in the live well I was able to hit 58-59 with no issues. I backed off but think it had more to give. I think 55 is very reasonable. Your cruise speed will depend on your prop but I think I am over 50 at 5k. Not sure but definitely over 45.

Yes you can hit 55 but with a super heavy load you may only top out at 58ish. The Evinrude would probably be alittle faster if it's the H.O. With the right setup I'd say you can have a 3-4 sec hole shot and I agree, the 21p would probably be your best all around prop. Cruising at 45-5k rpm would have you around 45mph or better. You don't want that Ranger Haha. In all seriousness, I'd be doing the same you are and it would come down to a 18xs or a 118c. Both are fine boats and are made by the same hands so it really comes down to which sticker you want on the back of your truck lol

I have the 18se, which is the exact same boat without some of the additional cosmetics.

With an Optimax pro XS 150 I get 59-60 with just me, gear and half a tank. With two people, gear, full tank and full live wells, I get 53-55. I have a tempest 23, but had it worked down to around 22. I get similar performance from a trophy plus 21 prop I use from time to time. The hole shot seems to be better with the tempest, although I have heard others find the exact opposite.
You either tell yourself you can or you tell yourself you can't...either way you are right!
