DON'T FIX WHAT ISN'T BROKEN!!
BE CAREFUL IF YOU ARE IN AN AREA WHERE THEY HAVE ETHANOL FUEL. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A FUEL FILTER SEPERATOR IN THE BOAT (LOOKS LIKE A LARGE OIL FILTER) AND CHANGE IT ABOUT EVERY THREE MONTHS (CARRY A SPARE FILTER IN THE BOAT). IT WILL USUALLY EAT THE CENTER OUT OF THE FUEL LINES. THE LONGER ETHANOL FUEL SITS THE MORE IT WILL SEPERATE AND YOU WILL WIND UP WITH THE ALCOHOL GOING IN FIRST, ALSO THIS ENGINE WILL NOT TOLERATE ANY WATER. THE FILTER WILL CATCH IT FIRST.
So the moral of the story here is don't put E85 in your motors. Don't know if this is adverstised anywhere but if true, very good info.

we are dealers for evinrude, mercury and yamaha. in some states the ethanol fuel is mandatory to be added at a 10% ratio. there have been service liturature from all the manufactures. the outboard engines today will tolerate 10% added but no more. we have already seen fuel lines deteriorate and even one case of engine failure due to ethanol fuels. you can go to mercurymotors.com type in ethanol fuels and it will pull up several sections (i just did to see if it was there for the public) i went to #4 and the instructions are there. it is very informative. please try it as everyone has big investments and i don't want to see anyone loose there engines.
