115 E-Tec
Purchasing a 2008 115 E-Tec w/ jet pump for 18x60 tunnel hull boat. Any recommendations ?
Is using XD 100 oil w/ computer reset for it being "too lean" ?
Thanks !

Re: 115 E-Tec (Steve Wright)
We have sold about 15 115 E-tecs, and they are the best motor Evinrude ever made, so your making a good decision there, also, i highly recommend using the XD100, it uses half as much oil and protects the motor better, especially under a high stress application such as a jet drive, its worth the extra cost.

Re: 115 E-Tec (Steve Wright)
I would set it for XD100. I know nothing about the newer jet pumps. I have not seen one since the 48 jet. Last I talked to BRP about a jet they claimed there might be some running issues whe it comes to mapping with a etec with a jet pump. Who's pump is being installed.

Hi Jeff
A red gunwale stripe would set that cool rig off.
it would match the E-Tec.

Great idea! I'll have to dig up some red boot stripe tape.
Thanks.

Now your cooking Jeff....the stripe looks good, what prop did you end up running...I've been testing a Signature 5 blade 15p, the hole shot almost rips your head off...lots of grip but still down on WOT RPM's..I still have not had the 777 map upgrade done yet plus I have not been on the water much over Xmas...Easter is looking good for more testing at this stage.

Re: 115 E-Tec (Chunder)
Chunder - thanks.
My most recent prop experiment was prop #13, the Amita 14 3/4 X 15 4 blade aluminum. Unbelievable hole shot (for my lead sled anyway) and she spun above 5,500 but overall I still prefer the BRP 15 X 17 3 blade aluminum.
Second best is the Rebel 15 3/4 X 15 3 (huge) blade stainless, but it breaks loose a little at midrange under full power, and although the bass guys like the R's to jump right up to 5 grand to get her pullin', I prefer a solid grip.
We're towing her down to the Keys for Easter...w/ Bahamas run if the weather permits.
The 777 didn't show me anything yet...my only prob has been a no oil alarm which isn't persistent and not since 777. I'm using and programmed for XD100...getting near 90 gals fuel/gallon of oil.
