    water in #2 cylinders

    96 jhonson venom sl#G04165224 Model#200STLEDM
It starts and idols fine when you put it in gear and try to take of it dies. You can rev it up in neuteral and its ok its just when its under a load it bogs down and dies. I did get it to clear out and ran down the lake. Let it set for a while trimmed the motor up and down and it did the same thing. Any suggestions i do have in the shop to be looked at.
THe shop called and said that there is water in the #2 cylinder but the head gasket looked good where could water get in if it was not coming from there?

The shop called and said that this moter had been rebuilt at one time and when thay put the new sleeve in the #2 cylinder that thay must of cracked the wall or there is a pin hole in there that is where the water is goming from and that it would cost more to have it fixed than it is worth does any of this sound right.

Anything is possible Mike, if you have another dealer nearby would be a good idea to get a second opinion.

I told him to put it back to where it would run do you think i should have him leave the head of and take it to some one else that way?

I have seen the head gaskets move around on these engines causing minute water intrusion into cylinders. This is usually on high hour engines or one that has a cooling issue. If cylinders are not damaged I would be tempted to install new gaskets and retry and monitor the cylinders. How long has engine ran on rebuild???

The mechanic was not sure that's were the water was coming from because he thought the head gasket looked good so he just suspected that's were the water was coming from.

Have the head machined (lapped) at a machine shop and then re torque the heads and see if that fixes the problem. There are a bunch of blocks out there that you can make work if this doesn't fix it.

Would the water in that cylinder cause it bog down and die when it was under a load?
