    dual tilt n trim switch

    Hi Folks -

I installed an external trim 'n tilt switch over the weekend. This is the type that is not integrated into the binnacle controls. It seems very straightforward to install, but now when I press up the engines go down and when I press down the engines come up. Could the switch be defective? (it's not like I can switch the connectors around, since the left one would then control the right engine and vice versa)

don't laugh - that is still an option....the problem is that the writing will be upside down!

for now I am pretending that it is like an airplan control...you know - bring it down for the plane to rise up! lol...

Gary, is this a switch that is installed between the steering wheel and helm? If not what is a 'dual' trim n tilt switch ? I am familiar with the helm mounted turn signal type that the single on the right is for the trim. But you say a 'dual' switch. That's telling me you have a switch lever on the right for the trim n tilt and a switch lever on the left for...? a jack plate ?

    He got's 2 motors bro

Least that's what I assume. Lever on the left for left motor and lever on the right for right motor...

after thinking about it though...Why would you need them to come up separately? Wouldn't you want them on one switch to raise them up evenly?

correct on the 2 motors....It is a small switch - like 4" by 2" which is mounted separately on the console, which has 2 separate "toggles" for each engine.

I have had this before on a switch in the binnacle control.

Just reverse the blue and green wires on the connectors.....
    Problem will be solved.

that makes more sense to me. You can push both toggles and control both engines with just just your thumb

Be my dam luck I'd have one all the wayu and the other down, I'd want them sync'd on one switch, I think............learn something every day.

I will try reversing the wires as you said.....as long as it is easy to do......if not - down is up and up is down!
