225 SHO on 2002 20XL prostar

Looking seriously at this motor for my boat. What type of prop should I start with? I have a 02 225 ho evinrude on it now with a 26p raker and i was getting 71 to 72 tops when the motor was running . What speeds should i expect?

Wish I could get that speed out of my 21XL Prostar. I have an '02 225 FICHT on mine and haven't been able to top 64mph yet and have been trying all kinds of set ups. Currently at 3.5" below the pad and running a 26 Raker II, but not hitting top RPMS. Not sure where to go from here, but good luck with yours!

You would be better off with a 24 instead of the 26 raker. Thats a lot of boat for the 225 to push with the 26p.

I would expect you will see similar speeds with the SHO with the 25p 15 1/8dia. v max prop they use on those motors.

I have a Yamaha 225 VMax on my 20xl Prostar with a 25p prop. It will exceed 70mph, but I do not know by how much.

I ran a 24 raker and could only get 62mph and that was pushing it up to 6000 rpm's which is more than i like to push it. I'm still lost at this point. Could i have different lower end than someone else? Is the motor a weak motor?

i repowered a 400 T javelin with a 225 SHO motor the 20xl will be simliar but nt completely i tried several props 25 tempest, 27 T1 25 T1 and best all around was 25 T1 2 people livewells full low on fuel i saw 80 mph at 6000 rpms tour load half tank of fuel 2 people livewells fuel 75-76 all day long
